Located in beautiful Gulf Shores, it's easy to see why Gulf State Park is the best pick in Alabama! This park includes two miles of beaches that line the Gulf of Mexico! Aside from relaxing on the sunny beach, you'll find a great 18-hole golf course, plenty of beautiful backcountry trails to explore, prime fishing, an educational nature center, and the chance to take a tour on a Segway! Gulf State Park has 496 campsites! This campground has pull-thru and back-in sites that are paved, and they offer full hookups with the choice of 20, 30, and 50 amps. Around the campground you'll find modern restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, a camp store, and two playgrounds! If you have friends who want to come along but they don't have an RV, there are tents sites as well as cabins and cottages to rent. Alaska | Chugach State Park
If you're headed to Alaska, Chugach State Park in Anchorage is the place to go! Surrounded by mountains, this park has a wide variety of terrain types. It's one of the top four largest parks in the US and has tons to do! Explore waterfalls, hike, bike, cruise on ATVs, head out on a kayak, pick berries, catch some fresh fish, go whale watching, and much more! Keep your camera handy in case you come across moose, lynx, or bears on your way around the park! If you're looking to camp at Chugach State Park, there are three campgrounds to choose from! These are all somewhat rustic and each contains a picnic table and a fire ring. While there are no hookups at the sites, there are vault toilets and there's a water supply nearby. Aside from pitching a tent at one of these sites, if you have non-RVing friends who want to tag along, they can check out the yurt or the cabins available for rent! Arkansas | Devil's Den State Park
The Devil's Den State Park may sound like a scary place, but it's just the opposite! Don't let the name of this amazing park fool you! You'll find waterfalls, a swimming pool, tons of trails, a camp store, a café, caves to explore, and much more! When booking a stay at Devil's Den State Park, there's plenty to choose from! Sites range from full hookups to backcountry hike-in only sites! The "AAA" sites include full hookups with 50-amp service and access to showers and a dump station. California | Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
If you're looking to explore the desert, check out Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in Borrego Springs. This park is so diverse in its landscape that you really feel like you're getting multiple parks in one. Between the mountaintops and the bottoms of the canyons, you'll find amazing scenery such as alluvial fans, badlands, and more. With 600,000 acres, you'll be hard pressed to run out of things to do! Hike the vast scenery, check out wildlife, see old mines, explore the botanical gardens, and marvel at the many art forms found throughout. The campgrounds at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park offer 147 sites, 44 of which are meant for RVs only. These sites are all pull-thru and offer water and 30-amp hookups. The 77 standard sites have no hookups but can accommodate an RV. These sites vary from pull-thru to back-in. Colorado | Cherry Creek State Park
Aurora is home to a gem called Cherry Creek State Park! This park is a great place to head if you're traveling with a furry, four-legged friend! They have a special off-leash area where Fido can run and play freely! Other things you can do in Cherry Creek State Park include fishing, hiking, water skiing, and even flying model airplanes! Visiting in the winter? Enjoy ice skating, snow tubing, snowshoeing, sledding, and cross-country skiing. Cherry Creek State Park offers over 130 campsites, with 101 of them being full hookups. These sites include 50-amp service and are all pet friendly! Some of these sites are pull-thru and some are back-in so you can choose one that best fits your needs. Sites can be occupied by an RV or a tent, but unlike many of the other parks on the list, Cherry Creek does not offer cabins to rent. Connecticut | Hammonasset Beach State Park
Spanning over two miles of beach in Madison, CT is Hammonasset Beach State Park. Enjoy the waters of the Long Island Sound and watch the whales breach, partake in some saltwater fishing, and check out the nature programs and exhibits. This park isn't as large as some of the others, but it is well worth a trip! The boardwalk in itself is simply breathtaking, and it gets you even closer to the whales! If you're looking for a camping spot, you'll find almost 560 sites within Hammonasset Beach State Park! Everything from simple tent sites with no amenities to back-in sites with 50-amp electrical service and water hookups are available. Delaware | Cape Henlopen State Park
Found along Cape Henlopen in Lewes, DE rests Cape Henlopen State Park. Here you'll find over 5,000 acres to explore along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. This park offers surfing, fishing, whale watching, disc golf, hiking, and biking! Want to get a glimpse of the entire park? Just climb the WWII Observation Tower for a one-of-a-kind view! Florida | Henderson Beach State Park

All this and more can be found at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, FL! Florida itself is the perfect destination, but this park takes the cake! Stroll down the boardwalks, swim in the refreshing ocean water, or take a seat with a fishing pole for the day. If you're looking to camp at Henderson Beach State Park you'll find 54 sites available. Four of these are for RVs only, 48 are for RVs or tents, and two are for tents only! Pretty much all sites offer water hookups, 50-amp service, and are pet friendly. Hawaii | Akaka Falls State Park
A Hawaiian vacation with waterfalls and ziplining creates the most fantastic RV trip one can imagine! Head to Akaka Falls State Park located in Honomu, HI. This park is on the big island of Hawaii and has more to offer than the typical park as far as natural beauty is concerned. Hike the trails and visit both Akaka and Kahūnā Falls, kick back on the beaches of the Hamakua Coast, and enjoy the sweet smell of the wild orchids growing in the forests! Unfortunately finding RV camping in Hawaii is tough, and Akaka Falls State Park is no exception. In fact, this park doesn't offer camping at all. Idaho | Harriman State Park
If you love wildlife, Harriman State Park in Island Park, ID is the place for you! You can see elk, moose, and beautiful birds such as the Trumpeter Swan and Sandhill Cranes. Other activities include hiking beautiful trails, horseback riding, and some of the best fly-fishing out there! If you're headed to this park in the winter, you can even get in some cross-country skiing. While there is no actual campground at Harriman State Park, you can rent a bunkhouse, yurt, or a cottage. The bunkhouse offers bunk beds, two queen beds, a kitchen, and a wood-burning stove. Yurts are equipped with futons, propane cooking appliances, a wood stove, and a table and chairs. Indiana | Turkey Run State Park

Iowa | Maquoketa Caves State Park
If you're into spelunking, Maquoketa Caves State Park is a prime location! It features caves you can meander through on foot and some that are so snug you'll have to crawl. Along with the caves you'll find beautiful rock formations and breathtaking overlooks! The campground offers 34 sites, 17 of which have electrical hookups. Within the campground you'll find a dump station, modern restrooms with showers, a playground, and water hydrants. Tent camping is also available for anyone not traveling with an RV. Kansas | Mushroom Rock State Park
Found in Brookville, KS, Mushroom Rock State Park gets its name from the spectacular rock formations that look like giant mushrooms coming up from the ground! This park is the smallest in Kansas spanning only 5 acres, but it's definitely the most interesting! These rocks are what remain of beach stone dating back to the cretaceous period and they were once used as a meeting place for Native Americans! There is no camping available at Mushroom Rock State Park, however about 15 minutes away you'll find Riverside Campground in Marquette. This campground is great for RVs, even offering sites that can accommodate big rigs! Kentucky | Natural Bridge State Resort Park
Named after the marvelous, naturally formed sandstone arch, Natural Bridge State Resort Park is a stunning sight! Aside from this arch you'll also find gorgeous sandstone cliffs and a sky lift that will take you to breathtaking heights and offer views of the entire park! Louisiana | Sam Houston Jones State Park
Sam Houston Jones State Park in Lake Charles, LA is a birdwatching paradise! They've done such an amazing job maintaining this park that tons of birds and other wildlife love to call it home. With waterways that lead to the Gulf of Mexico, if you like water sports and recreation, you'll love this location! Maine | Cobscook Bay State Park
Cobscook Bay State Park is the angler's dream with tons of water filled with wildlife! Here the tides range from 24 to 28 feet, which is 15-19 feet higher than the typical tide found in Maine. The boat launch is great to get you out on the water, but be sure that your driver is experienced with fast-moving tides that create rapids to stay safe. You can catch brook trout, smelt, bass, salmon, and more or just sit back and watch the eagles, seals, otters, and bears do their fishing here! When you head to Cobscook Bay State Park to camp you'll find 106 campsites, many of which are on Whitting Bay. Maryland | Assateague State Park
Surrounded by the waters of the Atlantic, Assateague State Park is located on Assateague Island, MD. Probably the most intriguing part of this park is the fact that you can get a look at wild horses that call the island home! Other great things to do include fishing, kayaking/canoeing, sunbathing, swimming, surfing, and more! Don't let the fact that this is an island cause you to shy away with your RV. There's a bridge to get in and a campground just waiting for you! With over 300 sites to choose from you're sure to find one that fits your needs! Massachusetts | Halibut Point State Park
With fifty-five acres of coastal landscape and forests, Halibut Point State Park is something to see! This park has tons of rocks that are a geologist's dream! Rare minerals such as Annite and Danalite are found in this area, as well as many other elements! Halibut Point State Park is located in the third most active geological location in the US so you can expect to easily see some things that can't typically be found in other places! Other things to do in this park include hiking the trails, fishing, and checking out the great scenery! Halibut Point State Park does not offer camping within the park, but there are other options nearby! Cape Ann Campsite is one of the closest to the park and has great sites! Michigan | Tahquamenon Falls State Park
A gem located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Tahquamenon Falls State Park is about as beautiful as it gets! Rust orange waters, colored from tannins leached in from the river above, plummet from the cascading falls. With 50,000 acres, you won't run out of things to see. The Tahquamenon River runs through the park and produces waterfalls so magnificent you'll be left amazed. The Upper Falls drops nearly 50 feet and is over 200-feet wide. The Lower Falls is actually a series of five different waterfalls that flow around a gorgeous island. This park's activities include hiking to and around the waterfalls, fishing, boating, and photographing wildlife! Here you can see moose, plenty of deer, beaver, black bear, and more! Tahquamenon Falls State Park has four different campgrounds offering different experiences. Modern campgrounds have electricity at the sites, showers and pit toilets, a playground, and concession stands. Also found within the grounds is a dump station so you can take care of your tanks on the way out. Minnesota | Gooseberry Falls State Park
Along the shoreline of Lake Superior lies Gooseberry Falls State Park in Two Harbors, MN. Fed by the Gooseberry River, you'll find a 3-stage waterfall in this park consisting of the upper, middle, and lower falls. Once you've gotten a look at the waterfalls, you can relax on the shores of Lake Superior and watch as the rough waters play with ships that sail across them. Hike the gorges, fish the waters, and kayak/canoe the river! With 69 drive-in sites, three of which are pull-through, RVers will be right at home in Gooseberry Falls State Park's campground. The length limit they can accommodate is 40', so if you're towing anything longer you'll need to find an alternative place to stay near the park. Missouri | Elephant Rocks State Park
Named after the massive rocks that stand end to end, resembling the way elephants travel with one another, Elephant Rocks State Park is another geological marvel. These rocks were formed from hot magma that cooled and was then weathered into these massive boulders. Aside from checking out the large rocks, you can partake in the nature programs, enjoy a picnic, or climb a massive boulder. No camping is available at Elephant Rocks State Park, but there are several campsites in the area to choose from!
Montana | Pictograph Cave State Park
Pictographs left from over 2,000 years ago dot the cave at Pictograph Cave State Park leaving many to wonder what they mean. Some are relatively simple while others are strange images left up to interpretation. What the Native Americans were documenting for us to find all these years later may never be clear, but you can see these images on your next trip to Montana's most fascinating state park. Pictograph Cave State Park does not have a campground within the park, however in the area you'll find plenty of other campgrounds that will keep you close so you can check out this amazing park!
Nebraska | Fort Robinson State Park
History buffs will love Fort Robinson State Park in Crawford. See herds of buffalo, long horns, and the historic outpost left over from WWII. You'll be amazed at the amount of history there is to be found in this park. You can also enjoy hunting, fishing, swimming, horseback riding, boating, and more! Nevada | Valley of Fire State Park

New Hampshire | Franconia Notch State Park

New Jersey | Wawayanda State Park
Hit the Appalachian Trail, hike a mountain, or head out in a canoe in Wawayanda State Park! The diverse landscape of this park ensures that everyone will find something to challenge them! Only 3 campsites are available within Wawayanda State Park and they're all rustic pull-off sites. There are plenty of other campgrounds in the area however, so you should have no problem finding somewhere nearby to stay!
New Mexico | Bottomless Lakes State Park
Lakes created by sinkholes ranging from 17 to 90 feet deep are found in Bottomless Lakes State Park! Explore these lakes from a kayak or canoe or you can even suit up in some scuba gear and check out the bottom of these bottomless lakes! Outside of the lakes there are plenty of trails to explore and lots of birds to watch in the trees. You'll find 13 campsites at Bottomless Lakes State Park. Three of the sites are pull through while the rest are back in. All sites offer electric service ranging from 30 to 50 amp, all are pet friendly, and all are near the water. New York | Niagara Falls State Park
It's probably no surprise that Niagara Falls State Park made our number one pick for New York! You probably already know all about Niagara Falls' breathtaking views, but did you know that you can take a trolley to check it out, explore caves below the falls, take a boat ride up to it, see the falls from the observation tower, and check out their aquarium? All this and more is waiting for you at Niagara Falls State Park! Niagara Falls State Park is another park that doesn't have its own campground. You can easily find somewhere to camp nearby with the abundance of campgrounds in the area. In fact there are at least five right around the corner!
North Carolina | Chimney Rock State Park
One of the most jaw-dropping views you'll ever see is from the outcropping of granite found at Chimney Rock State Park. North Dakota | Turtle River State Park

Spanning 464 acres, this park has tons of space to explore, including wide open lawn areas and beautiful stone walls. Here you can enjoy fishing, bird watching, horseback riding, biking, hiking, and more! Colt State Park doesn't offer camping within the park. There are a few campgrounds to choose from in the area and all of them offer their own feel! You're sure to find a campground that fits the experience you're looking for!
South Carolina | Myrtle Beach State Park
Another state park on the Atlantic coast, Myrtle Beach State Park is one that is pretty well known. You can enjoy fishing, surfing, swimming, a playground, birdwatching, biking, and more! If you watch the waters long enough, you may even get a glimpse of some whales playing around in the ocean! Camping at Myrtle Beach State Park is the way to go! Sites include water and electrical hookups, and can accommodate RVs up to 30 or 40 feet depending on the site. Tents are also welcome at this campground, and within the campground you'll find modern restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, a camp store, and more! South Dakota | Custer State Park
You've probably heard of Custer's last stand. See where it all began at Custer State Park! Here you'll find plenty of trails to hike, bike, or see via horseback, lots of fishing opportunities, scenic roadways, and an educational nature program! This park is full of history so if you're homeschooling/roadschooling your kids, this is the perfect "field trip" for them! Camping at Custer State Park is nice and comfortable. All the sites have either gravel or a paved pad on which you can set up your RV, and most have electrical hookups. You'll find modern restrooms with showers (except at Center Lake campground which has vault toilets), firewood for sale, and programs in the evenings at the amphitheater! Tennessee | Fall Creek Falls State Park
Spanning 26,000 acres, you'll find plenty to do at the gorgeous Fall Creek Falls State Park! There are four waterfalls to visit, tons of trails to explore, an adventure park with ziplines, a pool, golfing, fishing, and much more! If you run out of things to do here, we'd be shocked! Campsites at Fall Creek Falls State Park offer either asphalt or gravel pads and range from back in to pull thru! Some are full hookups including 20, 30, and 50 amp service, while others are simply water and electric. Also within the campground you'll find a playground, modern restrooms with showers, and RV dump stations! Texas | Palo Duro Canyon State Park
Second only to the Grand Canyon, Palo Duro Canyon is one of the largest canyons in the United States. Visit this canyon and more at Palo Duro Canyon State Park! Peer down at the Colorado River from a 2,000-foot elevation at Dead Horse Point in Dead Horse Point State Park! Here you can marvel at the canyons carved out by the waters that cut through the area. This park is great for anyone interested in geology and is wonderful for hiking or horseback riding! Deception Pass State Park is one of the most beautiful parks we've found. Here you'll find towering cliffs that watch over the raging waters! This park is the perfect place to get in some fishing as it offers both the saltwater shoreline of the Pacific and the fresh waters of Cranberry Lake, Pass Lake, and Lake Campbell! Go sailboarding, enjoy a show at one of the two amphitheaters, or just relax on the beach! Campsites at Deception Pass State Park vary as they have three different areas. You can find sites that offer electrical and water hookups or rustic sites for tents. Within the campground you'll find modern restrooms with showers as well as fresh water for drinking! At this park you can enjoy fishing, hiking through breathtaking scenery, visiting the nature center, or playing a game of volleyball, basketball, or tennis!
