Best Family Spring Break RV Getaways

Spring Break is almost here, and it’s not too late to plan a budget-friendly family RV trip to one of America’s favorite vacation destinations. Here’s a few suggestions from Lakeshore RV that will help you create lifelong family memories in your new travel trailer RV, without breaking the bank.

Myrtle Beach, S.C. is always a family favorite, but why spend thousands on a coastal hotel when you’ll want to be outdoors building sandcastles and golfing? Here’s a few of our top picks: The Lakewood Camping Resort packs a big punch when it comes to family fun, from a nightly beach fire to water aerobics, card games, and line-dancing classes. Myrtle Beach KOA boasts a short walking distance to the ocean, amusement & water parks, mini golf courses, the NASCAR SpeedPark and more than 100 golf courses. Oh, and did we mention you can WALK TO THE OCEAN?! Ocean Lakes Family Campground sits on 310 oceanfront acres with a mile of beachfront. We love the on-site laundry and Ocean Lakes Nature Center Discovery Lab for the kiddos.

Or, head to Washington D.C. to take in the gorgeous Cherry Blossom trees in full bloom during the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Mar. 20 thru Apr 27. This event marks the gift of thousands of cherry trees given to Washington by the city of Tokyo in 1912. Cherry Hill Park is the closest and most practical RV park and campground to metro Washington, D.C. Cherry Hill has the quaint feeling of a leisure campground, yet many conveniences of big-city living. They offer full hook-up with 30 or 50 amp service, an outdoor theater with nightly movies, and pet-friendly accommodations. We especially like Cherry Hill’s use of green energy, and that public transportation is available to major sites around D.C. And, after a long day of touring the Mall and the Smithsonian, Cherry Hill’s hot tub and sauna will be calling your name!

If you’re looking for a laid back Florida vacation without theme-park crowds, check out scenic I-98 along the Gulf of Mexico. We were inspired by Woodall’s camping blog and specifically, the review of Ho-Hum RV Park. The park is small and quaint and no-frills, but their beachfront lots offer breathtaking scenery! Children are welcome but they might not find as many activities to stay busy here. If you prefer a more kid-friendly park, there are dozens of  RV parks and campgrounds, both private and state-owned, as you travel west towards Pensacola. We suggest Camp Gulf near Destin. The kids will have a blast with the giant inflatable water slide, pool, and daily activities, and you’ll appreciate the convenience of their family-friendly bath houses and beach carts for lugging toys and towels. And, the sugar sand beaches are perfect for collecting seashells or just being lazy!

With so many great family-friendly spring break options, it’s hard to narrow down just a few.
