Registering your RV in New York

You must register your RV in the state of New York. You will need to provide proof of ownership / title, fill out the application, proof of ID, pay sales tax and fees and have your RV inspected within 10 days. Insuring your RV in New York

New York requires RV owners to carry RV insurance if they have a Class A or Class B Motorhome, If you have a lien on your RV and make payments or if you rent your RV. For all other scenarios, the insurance of your tow vehicle will carry over to your RV. For a Class A or Class B motorhome, you are required to carry the state minimum liability coverage of $25,000 per person in a single accident / $50,000 for all persons in a single accident, property damage liability $10,000 for a single accident, personal injury protection $50,000 for a single accident, Uninsured motorist Bodily injury $25,000 per person / $50,000 for a single accident and Bodily injury Liability Death benefits $50,000 per person killed / $100,000 for all persons killed in a single accident. Like all insurance policies, you have the option to add additional collision and comprehensive insurance to protect your investment. Campers, travel trailers and fifth wheels do not need to be insured in the state of New York unless you are making payments and have a lien on your vehicle. You can choose to add additional coverage on your travel trailer, fifth wheel or camper for total loss replacement, towing or roadside assistance.
