Registering your RV in Kentucky

When you purchase your new RV, you must register it before you can legally drive in Kentucky. The process is the same as registering a regular vehicle, however, you will likely have a higher registration fee since your RV is larger than a truck or car. You register your new RV at The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet or KTC. If you are new to the state, you will need to visit the county clerk's office. When you go to register your RV, you must bring your title, proof of insurance, Picture ID, Social Security number and payment for the fees. You can find more information on how to register your RV in Kentucky here. Find more about registering your RV in Kentucky here.

Insuring your RV in Kentucky

Kentucky’s legislation has required insurance on your RV to legally drive. Owners may not operate any vehicles in Kentucky without proper insurance. If you fail to have your vehicle properly insuranced, you can have your vehicle’s registration revoked as well as be subject to a fine. Owners must carry minimal liability coverage of $25,000 for all claims for bodily injury for one person, $50,000 for bodily injury for all persons in result of an accident and $25,000 for all property damage. Alternatively, you can get a single limit policy that covers $60,000. Protect your RV investment and carry the proper coverage needed by the state of Kentucky. Many RV owners opt to increase their coverage above the minimal liability to ensure their new RV is covered.
