Lakeshore RV Center
This is one my favorite weeks.
As a NASCAR fan, it is always great when the Sprint Cup Series makes the first of two stops at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.
It was back in 2000 I made my first visit to the two-mile oval in the lovely Irish Hills.
I must confess that I was not a big race fan at the time.
A former co-worker had been after me to attend a race at the track.
Now, I had watched a few races on television, but had never attended a race in person.
Well, I was hooked after my first race.
The whole experience from the camping to the race sold me.
Since that initial race I have made it back to MIS at least once a year for either the June or August race.
I have chosen to attend the August race this season as my 30-year high school class reunion is this weekend.
That will not stop me from thinking about my friends who will be at MIS this weekend.
They will be there for the Quicken Loans 400 and camping at our favorite campground.
If you have ever attended a race at MIS, then you know it can be a nightmare getting in and out of the race track.
With that being said, I am going to focus on camping options that are located closest to the track.
I have stayed at several of these campgrounds over the years and can attest that you will not find a better group of race fans then those at MIS.
So, enjoy the beautiful Irish Hills and the race on Sunday.
