It is Talladega time.
Talladega is NASCAR’s biggest and fastest track. It’s known for three-and-four-wide racing on the high-banked 2.66-mile tri-oval facility.
While Talladega is known for its speed, it is also famous for its camping.
Being located in the hills of northern Alabama, camping is the main form of accommodations for the 143,000 spectators that will attend the race.
Sprinkled around the speedway are 23 campgrounds that offer plenty of options for the RV camping race fan.
I have taken a look at three such RV parks along with the camping options inside the 212-acre infield.
So, enjoy the four-wide racing and the inevitable ‘Big One.’
DOVE RIDGE CAMPGROUND
Is located directly across the street from the speedway and has over 400 sites available for RV camping.
This RV Park also offers the following:
• Water and electric
• 30 and 50 amp electricity for Travel Trailers, 5th Wheels, Toy Haulers, and Motorhomes
• Dump stations
• Portable toilets
• Showers
Campsites are generally rented from the Tuesday before the race until the following Monday and range in price from $250-$300. All prices are for the week of the race with checkout by noon the day after the race

WAZOO CAMPGROUND
This campground has over 250 sites and is located only a half mile from the speedway. They do allow RV campers to have tents set up on the lots with the RV. Only one vehicle is allowed but you can bring an additional vehicle for a rate of $25. It also offers the following amenities:
• 60 lots with water and electric only for Travel Trailers, 5th Wheels, Toy Haulers, and Motorhomes
• 59 lots with 20 and 30 amp electric
• Private portable toilets
• Restrooms and showers
• Dump station
• Local dining spots close to the campground • Tram to speedway
Campsites are generally rented from the Tuesday before the race until the following Monday and range in price from $250-$300.
GRAND STAND RV PARK
Is the closest privately owned campground to the speedway as it adjacent to the speedway property.
This park has 81 sites total and 44 pull through sites total and offers the following:
• 22 sites with water and 50 amp electricity for Travel Trailers, 5th Wheels, Toy Haulers, and Motorhomes
• Campsites 30 X 50
• Dump station
• Clean water
• Portable toilets
• Garbage dumpsters
• They sell firewood, ice, beer and have a convenience store with snacks and drinks
The cost to camp from Monday to Monday during race week is $400.

TALLADEGA PIT STOP RV PARK AND CAMPGROUND
Talladega Pit Stop RV Park has many options to enjoy your stay! Located within walking distance of the racetrack. Choose from flat, grassy RV spots for a simple RV setup, Talladega cabins for rent that are picturesque and cozy or a village of tiny, colorful homes for rent. Amenities include:
• Full sewer & bath house / toilets available
• Camp General store

There is camping available right on the speedway grounds.
Free camping, on a first come-first served basis, is available for those who show their tickets for the Sunday race.
For a price, guests can even camp on the infield at Talladega.

Rates begin at $275 and can be as much as $1,650.
