Not all RVs are created equal, and which type you choose all depends on your camping needs. If you're interested in purchasing an RV so that you can vacay all year long, it's important that you understand the different RV types and their uses. Use this guide to help you make an informed decision when choosing between the different types of RVs. You can choose from travel trailers, 5th Wheels, Toy Haulers, and Destination Trailers.

Travel Trailers

Travel trailers are ideal for people on the move. They come in a variety of sizes, and some can even be outfitted with extenders to provider campers with more interior living space. Travel trailers can be kept simple or filled with every home convenience imaginable, including refrigerators, dishwashers and more. They can also be towed with a variety of vehicles, making them ideal for families. Travel Trailers are the most popular type of non-motorized RV. They come in all sizes and sometimes are called “bumper pull”. Advantages of a travel trailer include being budget friendly, easy set up and multiple slide outs to create wide open living.

5th Wheel RVs

5th wheels are very similar in design and layout to travel trailers save for one key difference: they feature a gooseneck connector that attaches to the tow vehicle. This gooseneck hangs over the bed of a truck, allowing for more leverage and easier maneuvering. This gooseneck also provides more living space in the RV. These rigs provide luxury while out on the road, all while making you feel right at home. The fifth wheel hitches are handy, allowing you to drive normally and avoid the maneuvering with a Travel Trailer. They also have a better safety record, use less gas, and can fit larger groups.

Toy Haulers

Toy Hauler is a type of RV featuring a “garage” in the rear with a large ramp door for access. Most common type of toy hauler is a 5th wheel or travel trailer. Some motorhomes also can be toy haulers. Bring all of your toys camping including four wheeler, motorcycle, jet skies or any other toy you want to carry with you.

Destination Trailers

Destination trailers—or known as park trailers—are perfect for travelers who want to stay put in one particular campground for an entire season. These types of RVs are easily towed and feature all the conveniences and comforts of a home. They come fully equipped with waste holding tanks, freshwater tanks, fireplaces, bay windows, gourmet kitchens and more. If you like to feel as if you're home away from home when on the go, consider investing in a destination trailer.
