Fishermen’s Memorial State Park offers campers a seaside atmosphere located in the town of Narragansett, where you can find activities for the whole family! Whether you’re looking to enjoy a campfire, play basketball or tennis, or go swimming, Fishermen’s has many amenities. There are full hook up sites, a dump station, playgrounds, comfort station, and much more! The biggest draw is the location to Point Judith Lighthouse, Scarborough State Beach, Black Point Trailhead, John H. Chafee National Wildlife Refuge, and East Matunuck State Beach. Other local, must-see destinations include South County Museum, Yawgoo Valley ski area, and the Adventureland Family Fun Park.
Burlingame State Campground
Burlingame State Campground is 3100 acres of rocky woodland that surrounds Watchaug Pond in Charlestown. Camping at Burlingame, you are surrounded by numerous scenic areas including Ninigret Conservation Area, East Beach, Woody Hill Management Area, and Kimball Wildlife Refuge. There are around 700 rustic campsites and it’s one of the most popular state parks in terms of camping in Rhode Island. There are restrooms with showers, a playground, an arcade, boat ramp, canoe rentals, general store, and many hiking trails. Many guests enjoy biking, fishing, swimming, hiking, and picnicking while staying at the park.
Charlestown Breachway
Charlestown Breachway State Beach is located on the Block Island Sound. This is a popular area with stunning lakeshore views, and just a short drive from popular tourist attractions such as the Point Judith Light, Ninigret tiol Wildlife Refuge, and East Beach. The picturesque landscape provides many activities such as swimming, boating, fishing, and more!
George Washington State Campground
Located within the 4000 acres George Washington Management Area on the Bowdish Reservoir, this 100 acre camping area is a prime camping spot to enjoy the outdoors. There are 45 rustic sites without electricity, however, there are shared water stations throughout the campground. Bathrooms and showers are available for campers to use. Many guests enjoy hiking, fishing, biking, canoeing, and swimming in the park.
Wawaloam Campground
Wawaloam is located in southern Rhode Island. The campground is sprawled across 100 acres of rural farmland with a fishing pond on-site. It’s conveniently close to some famous attractions in the state, such as the historic Wickford Village, Block Island, Mystic Aquarium, and the popular tourist city of Newport. Activities include themed weekends, dog shows, splash park, mini golf, swimming pool, and general store. The campground is surrounded by a security gate so you can relax knowing you are camping safely.
