That is what the Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Speedway has become since NASCAR introduced the Chase concept in 2004.
The final regular season race determines which 12 drivers will compete in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
This is always an entertaining race as drivers jockey to finish in the top-12.
Over 90,000 fans flock to the ¾ mile oval for both Richmond races each season and many of them camp at nearby RV parks.
Here are three campgrounds that are located near Richmond International Speedway.
KOSMO VILLAGE CAMPGROUND
This 17-site campground is located 18 miles from the speedway in Glen Allen, Virginia.
RV’s up to 85-feet can be accommodated and the amenities there include:
• 30 and 50 amp electric for Travel Trailer, 5th Wheel, Toy Hauler, and Motorhomes
• Water and sewer
• Free WiFi
• Trash dumpster
Rates for NASCAR weekends require a three-night minimum stay, paid in advance. The rate is $50 per night during race weeks.

Is located 33 miles from the speedway and sits on the Chickahominy River in Lanexa, Virginia,
This 100-site RV Park has some of the following amenities:

• 30 and 50 amp service
• Dump station
• Cable TV
• Showers
• Laundry room
• Fire rings
Rates start at $37.75 per day or $135 for a Wednesday through Sunday package for a pull-through lot.

• Restrooms and showers
• Laundry

Rates run from $30 to $35 per night.

Richmond International Speedway does offer some RV camping at the race track.
Unreserved daily and overnight parking spaces are available in the Meadowridge RV Parking Lot J for the weekend.
